In every breath of our life, there is change. Change can be good like getting a new job, starting college, getting married, or having a baby. However, even in these long awaited milestones in our life, there is often a feeling of wilderness. One day we are on the mountaintop. The next moment we find ourselves in a place feeing all alone. It is inevitable that many things in our life will leave us with a sense of being powerless. Dealing with divorce, death of a loved one or losing a job leave us feeling desperate, lonely and uncertain about tomorrow. Some change is because of choices we have made and other’s are totally out of our control. But in all of these moments, God is calling us to rely on Him. God created us for fellowship. He longs to be loved. He longs for us to allow Him to reveal His power. Change, regardless of the frustration, stress and even hurt that it can cause us to feel always brings some kind of growth. In these moments, we are given the opportunity, once again, to trust in the unfailing, unchanging hand of God.

Martin Luther said....

This life therefore is not righteousness, but growth in righteousness
not health, but healing
not being, but becoming. . . .
We are not yet what we shall be,
but we are growing toward it.
The process is not yet finished, but it is going on.
This is not the end, but it is the road.
All does not yet gleam in glory, but all is being purified.

So as we breathe through our day to day life, we can embrace change as a time to depend on God or, continue to struggle in our own need to control. When we embrace God, we let go and He begins to reveal to us the miracles He has designed for our life. Often it is difficult to trust God and in that, it is also difficult to see how He is moving in our life. But again, His word reveals to us the truth…..

"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland" (Isaiah 43:19)

So, if you are in the desert today, you are not alone....remember He is there, doing a new thing!
